the morning benders - “excuses” live at atomic cafe, munich, germany
Just saw The Morning Benders perform last night. Show was opened by a local band, Lucky Fish. Looked super young, like a bunch of 15 year olds, but they had good energy to get the show going. When The Morning Benders came on, the crowd of maybe 50 was pumped. They had a great live sound, maybe even better than off the album, more organic. No fancy gimmicks, no crazy showmanship, just straight playing their music and having fun. Even had a little fun playing a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” as an encore. Their sunny California indie-rock really shined in the small venue, a confusing contrast with the dark, rainy skies upon leaving.

panda bear - “slow motion”
Just listen. Tomboy’s looking good as a candidate for the best album of the year.
m.i.a. - “meds and feds”
Just finished the first time through M.I.A.’s new album /\/\/\Y/\ . Can really see the presence of her collaborators. Kinda in love with this track “Meds and Feds” just cause it uses the same backing track as Sleigh Bells’ “Treats”. Overall a pretty good album. Didn’t really ever listen to her first album much, but it’s about what I’d expect from a follow-up.
